Check any text against your own house-style rules and get grounded violations with quotes and fixes.
This style guide checker checks text against the rules you define — house style, brand voice, editorial guidelines, legal or compliance phrasing — instead of a fixed, one-size-fits-all rule set. Name a rule ("No passive voice", "Always say you, never the user", "Keep sentences under 25 words"), add an optional description to disambiguate it, and paste the text.
Every violation quotes the exact phrase that broke the rule, with its character offset in the text, a plain-language note on why it's a violation, and a suggested fix — so nothing is flagged without evidence you can check against the source text yourself. A rule with no violations shows a checkmark in the legend above; the overall verdict is compliant only when every rule passes.
Useful for enforcing editorial guidelines across a publication, keeping brand voice consistent across a marketing team, checking legal or compliance-mandated phrasing, or reviewing AI-generated drafts against a custom rubric before they ship. Need this in your own product or pipeline? The Style Guide API takes the same text and rules and returns the same violations, rules and compliant fields as JSON, or use the Sapling MCP server to check style compliance from an AI assistant. Pair it with the writing quality checker or tone utilities, or contact us about custom style-guide enforcement at volume.
