Inclusive Language Checker

Find gendered, ableist, ageist and other biased wording, with a neutral alternative for each.

Using this Tool

Inclusive language avoids wording that excludes people or leans on stereotypes. This tool looks for gendered defaults, ableist idioms, ageist framing and similar phrases across eight categories—gender, race and ethnicity, disability, age, LGBTQ+, religion, socioeconomic status and appearance—and suggests a neutral alternative for each.

Paste the text you would like to check in the input box above, then click Check language. Each flagged phrase is quoted with its category, a severity, a short note on why it was flagged and a suggested replacement. Suggestions are a starting point: context matters, so use your own judgment on whether to apply them.

Common uses include job posts, policies, marketing copy and customer-facing messages. To flag diversity, equity and inclusion issues directly in a document as you edit, see the DEI issue highlighter.
