Sapling is a spelling and grammar checker that integrates with Microsoft Office and Word.
Sapling's new desktop application natively supports desktop programs, including Word. We recommend using it instead of the older Word add-in.
Sapling supports the following versions of Word on MacOS and Windows:
Sapling also works on https://www.office.com through browser extensions.
Check out our Outlook page as well.
These instructions are for installing Sapling's old Word add-in.
We recommend you use the new desktop application instead: Sapling Desktop.
Within Word, Click Get Add-ins. Try looking under the Insert menu if you don't see it.
Search for Sapling, then click Add and follow the instructions.
Under the Home menu, towards the right, you should see Launch Sapling. Click to start the Sapling side pane and log in.
If the above instructions don't work, or you're directed to the Microsoft Admin Center, try following the instructions on this page—in particular the section on "Integrated apps".
Click the Launch Sapling icon, sign in, and click Start Sapling.
Sapling will display edits in the right sidepane. Clicking on a particular edit will highlight that edit to the left in the Word document. Click the ✓ button to accept edits and the × button to ignore edits.
