Overview
Created in part by several of the developers of OpenAI's GPT-3, Claude is Anthropic's LLM trained with its research in developing helpful and safe AI systems.
Claude is Anthropic's flagship LLM and, as of April 2024, the most competitive cloud LLM offering alongside OpenAI's GPT series. Highly capable, Claude was also originally trained using Anthropic's "Constitutional AI" feedback method. Since the initial release, Anthropic has continued to improve the performance and cost of Claude, most notably in March 2024 with the release of the Claude 3 model family: Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus, and more recently in June 2024 with the release of Claude Sonnet 3.5, surpassing Claude 3 Opus and at a much lower cost.

Mistral Large
Overview
Mistral Large is Mistral AI's flagship proprietary model, competitive with GPT-4 class models. It excels at complex reasoning, multilingual tasks, and code generation, and is available via the La Plateforme API and major cloud providers.
Released in February 2024, Mistral Large is Mistral AI's top-tier commercial offering. It supports a 32K token context window and achieves top-three ranking on MMLU at time of release, behind only GPT-4 and Google's Gemini Ultra. Mistral Large 2 followed in July 2024 with a 128K context window and improved instruction following. Both versions are available via Mistral's own API and through Azure and AWS Bedrock.
